We, at the Aesthetic & Vein Center MD, are excited to bring you the latest technology for skin rejuvenation. Fraxel re:store® is a fractional laser technology used to treat skin damage, such as acne scars, age or sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and other signs of aging. It might also improve the appearance of stretch marks, as well as of surgical and traumatic scars. Fraxel® was cleared by the FDA to treat pigmented lesions, melasma (mask of pregnancy), and peri-orbital wrinkles.

After a series of Fraxel® treatments, you can expect smoother, fresher, younger looking skin. Because the technology is so precise, Fraxel re:store® treatment works not only on the face, but also on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest, abdomen and hands. This non-ablative treatment will enhance and complement other aesthetic treatments that we offer, such as Botox, Facial Fillers, and Titan Skin Tightening.

How Does Fraxel re:store® work?
Fraxel treatment uses patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with a microscopic laser which penetrates deep into the skin to treat only a fraction of skin tissue at a time. Your surrounding tissue will not be affected, resulting in rapid healing. Your body’s natural healing process will replace the old, damaged cells with healthy skin.

Who is a candidate?
Men or women of any age and skin type who are looking for a significant change in their skin surface without extended downtime may benefit from this treatment.

How many Fraxel® treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will depend on your skin condition to be treated, your desired outcomes and lifestyle. Dr. Normand Miller, Medical Director at Aesthetic & Vein Center MD will work with you to determine the aggressiveness of the treatment and the associated downtime. Generally, a series of 3 to 5 treatments will be recommended.

How soon will I see the results and are they permanent?
The results will be both immediate and progressive. Usually, you will start seeing a brighter skin 4-7 days after treatment. Over the following 3 to 6 months, the deeper layers of your skin will continue to heal and show improvement. The results are permanent; however your ability to maintain those results will depend on your sun exposure and aging process.

What will I look like immediately after the Fraxel® treatment?
Your skin will be red immediately following the treatment (comparable to a moderate to severe sunburn). This will last for approximately 2-4 days. By the second to third day, the redness will deepen into a more tanned appearance and will quickly diminish. You can also expect some swelling in the treated area for a few days following treatment. The aggressiveness of the treatment will influence these symptoms.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?
We will provide a topical anesthetic and cool air on the treated area to minimize any discomfort you may experience. Most people describe the treatment as a sensation of heat with mild discomfort. After the treatment, your skin will feel like you suffered a sunburn.
